TENA CHRISTINE BAHRY (YASKIEW) It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Tena Bahry on January 6, 2011 at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, MB at the age of 86 years. Mom leaves to mourn her daughter Linda (Russ) Keeler; granddaughter Nicole (Barry) and great-grandchildren Hunter, Leighton and Preston; grandson Sean (Whitney) and great-grandchildren Harli and Myla; a sister Jean Ostash and a brother Matt Yaskiew. Mom was predeceased by her husband Mike, her parents Peter and Annie, brothers Paul, Max, John, Mike and Stanley and her sisters Stella and Nellie. Mom was born on February 8, 1924 to Peter and Annie Yaskiew on the family farm in Rossburn, MB. Mom married Mike Bahry on October 13, 1949 and spent 59 years together. A few years following their marriage, they were blessed with their one and only child Linda. Mom and Dad resided in Gimli until 1972 when they moved to Winnipeg and lived there for 35 years. In 2007, they moved to Ashern to be closer to their daughter. Over the years, Mom had various jobs from babysitting, housecleaning and working at the Gimli Hospital. Mom's greatest joy was her two grand-children. She spent a lot of time preparing wonderful Ukrainian meals for family and friends as cooking was one of her favourite pastimes. She also enjoyed shopping, gardening, playing cards, watching TV and spending time with loved ones. Mom was kind, caring, generous and compassionate and was always around to help others in their time of need. Mom devoted a lot of her time over the years caring for her dogs Angie and Gizmo. Mom was a breath of fresh air, a light in the dark and an inspiration to both myself and my family. The memories I have are engrained in my heart and I feel truly blessed for all the time I spent loving, nurturing and caring for her over the last few years. She has given me a lifetime of affection, a heart full of laughter and place to call home. Mom you are my angel. May your journey bring you peace, joy and happiness with Dad. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at the St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave., Winnipeg, MB with Father Frank Szadiak officiating. Interment will be held at the Chapel Lawn Cemetery. Special thanks to Dr. Ramadan, the staff at the Ashern and Eriksdale Personal Care Homes, the Lakeshore General Hospital and E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care of Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lakeshore Hospital Guild, in care of Julie Bergner, PO Box 721, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0 or to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
