Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHARINA (TINA) MEYER (nee QUIRING) June 7, 1924 - January 5, 2011 On January 5, 2011, Katharina Meyer died peacefully at Evergreen Place, Boissevain, MB. We are so deeply grateful to God for having given us such a precious, faith-filled and loving mother, Oma, sister and friend. Tina was born in Schoenau, Ukraine on June 7, 1924. Her childhood experiences produced a strong determination and strength of character. Meeting the love of her life while a refugee in Germany also developed a deep sense of patience and trusting in the Lord's timing. She waited three years in Canada before her fiancé Rudolf Meyer joined her. Married in 1951, they settled in Winnipeg, raising their two daughters and enjoying life together for 43 years until Rudy's death in 1995. Upon coming to Winnipeg in 1948, Tina studied nursing. This career became a life long passion. Later she added her skills and gifting in reflexology and deep muscle massage. It was a touch soon not to be forgotten. Tina loved the outdoors. Her excursions included picking blueberries, wildflowers and herbs for medicinal ointments and teas. The cottage was a special bonding place for creating memories, especially with her grandchildren. She loved them very much and was proud of their accomplishments. Tina took her church responsibilities seriously, serving alongside her husband in his role as deacon. The lady's church group was also important to her. Tina had a sense of humour and dry wit. Her chuckle was wonderful to hear but it is her radiant smile that will be missed the most. It is a memory we will always cherish. Tina was predeceased by her husband Rudolf Meyer, her parents Jakob and Katharina Quiring, younger sister Sarah, brothers Walter (Anna) Quiring, Heinrich Quiring, Frank (Nettie) Quiring and sister Anna (Bernhard) Peters. Left to mourn and treasure her memory are two daughters Dorothy (Dale) Whetter and Rosie (Len) Neufeld, grandchildren Katherine (fiancé Colin Skibitzky) and Michael (Kendra) Whetter, Melissa, Stephen, Thomas and Daniel Neufeld, sister Justina (Nick) Lowen, sister-in-law Maria Quiring, brother-in-law Herbert Meyer as well as many nieces and nephews. A special thank you is extended to the staff at Evergreen for their care of mom over the years. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, 921 Garfield Street, Winnipeg. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Viewing at the church one hour prior to the service. If so desired, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7
