DIANE KOBLANSKY Peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 Diane Koblansky passed away at Health Sciences Centre. Diane was predeceased by her parents Nick and Mary, sister Betty, brother Steve and sister-in-law Rene. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her niece Sherrie (Jim), nephew Grant (Suzanne) along with cousins throughout Illinois, Indiana and California. Diane was born on December 11, 1921 and raised in Elmwood on Herbert Avenue where she became close friends with many of the original neighbours over the years. She began her 46 year career with Swifts in the Meat Packing Division eventually moving to Swifts USA Ice Cream Division in Nashville and Knoxville, Tenn., where she resided for several years. Family ties brought Diane back to Winnipeg working for Swifts in the Adhesive Division where she made many lasting friendships. Upon retirement, Swifts presented Diane with a Caribbean cruise in recognition of her long standing service with the company. Diane was a very sociable person - always smiling and loved a good time. Her happiest moments were spent with family at the cottage at Lester Beach. As one of the original members of the Lester Beach Cottagers Association Diane organized and enjoyed countless social activities. Her time at the lake gave her many happy memories and lifelong friendships. When it was time for Diane to move away from her family home she began a new chapter of her life at Lions Manor on Sherbrook Street. During the next 12 years, Diane served on various committees, enjoyed and participated in all social functions and had a great time meeting new friends. Diane was a very caring, generous, independent woman who lived life to the fullest. She had many interests including cooking, creating ceramics and floral arrangements and traveling to new destinations. Family and friends were the most important part of her life. Her cheerful disposition drew people to her and she made friends easily. She will be missed. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Gordon-King Memorial United Church located at 127 Cobourg Ave. (off Henderson Highway). A private family interment will be held at a later date. At this time the family would like to thank the wonderful Lions Organization and everyone at Lions Manor for enriching Diane's life. We would also like to express our gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Health Sciences Centre and to all the staff on 6 East at Deer Lodge Centre for their compassionate care of our Aunt during the last year. A special thank you to Reverend Don McIntyre for being there for us and officiating at Diane's service.
