ARCHIE WILLIAM MOFFATT November 23, 1916 - December 20, 2010 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, Archie William Moffatt. On December 20, 2010, our mother Edna Moffatt, extended her hand to him, to join her in Eternity. He will be deeply missed by his children, Barbara (Herb) Elgie, Gordon (Gwen) Moffatt, Margaret (Kevin) Sandst; brother Alex (Beryle) Moffatt; grandchildren Jim (Tamara) Elgie, Steve (Inez) Elgie, Krista (Jeff) Watts, Lindsay (Wes) Moldowan, Scott Moffatt, Laura (Doug) Cameron, Michael Sandst; great-grandchildren, Connor, Bella and Emily Elgie and several nieces and nephews. Archie was born to Rosetta and Ayton Moffatt in North Battleford, SK and grew up in Saskatoon spending summers working and playing at the family farm in Maymont, SK. He met the love of his life, Edna Buck, in High School. They married in 1941, in Trenton, ON, where he trained to be a pilot in the R.C.A.F. He became a Flight Instructor, and during the Second World War, taught many young recruits before being stationed as a Squadron Leader in England for the last year of the war. Post wartime, they moved to Winnipeg where he worked for Powell Equipment as General Sales Manager. After many years with Powell, he joined with Roy Gardiner and Don Whitmore to form GMW Ltd., specializing in highway construction, dam building, site development, and other heavy construction projects in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. When in Winnipeg they lived in Fort Garry and had a cottage at Falcon Lake. Each member of the family has many fond memories of growing up at the lake with friends and extended family joining in on the laughter and good times. Archie had a love and appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed many years of bird hunting and fishing. When Archie retired, Edna and he moved to British Columbia to be nearer Archie's brothers. They later moved to Kelowna into a lovely home in a senior's community where they entertained friends and family over the years. Many sun and fun-filled winters were spent in Mesa, Arizona. Everyone made a point of joining them in the beautiful Arizona desert. We are left with many good memories of our parents and hope to carry on the spirit of Dad's legacy - hard work, honesty, love and caring for family and friends.
