WILLIAM L. VAREY 1924 - 2011 With sad hearts and wonderful memories, the family of William Varey announces his passing on January 4, 2011, at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 86 with his family by his side. Remaining to cherish Bill's memory is the love of his life Iona ( Own ); two daughters, Carolyn Pullano (Richard), Marlene Kroeker (Eldon); grandchildren Clint, Ryan (Vedrana), Melanie (Dave), Donovan (Shannon), Aaron, Rachael; great-grandchildren Zoe, Finley, and Chloe; brother Cal (Evelyn) and sister Dorothy. On April 21, 1924, Bill was born in Greenridge, Manitoba. He served in the Airforce during the Second World War, and after discharge, served with 402 Squadron. He and Iona were married on June 3, 1943, and lived for 63 years in St. Vital. Forty-nine years were spent working at Systems Business Forms. Bill was a member of St. Mary's Road United Church for over 60 years. Bill loved his home and was happiest outdoors enjoying his yard, the birds, or the family farm at Greenridge. We will remember his inquisitive nature, modesty and humility, generosity and his devotion to his wife of 67 years. On Monday, January 10, 2011 a Celebration of Bill's life will take place at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Rd. A private interment will take place at a later date. The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors on the 7th floor south of SBGH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3 or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
