KENNETH (KEN) WILSON May 9, 1928 - January 4, 2011 A wonderful life has ended - Ken passed away unexpectedly but peacefully with his family at his side at the Victoria Hospital. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Pam; his sons, Michael of Toronto, and Larry (Kim); his granddaughters Kaylee and Danielle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Wib and Laurie. Ken was born in Myrtle, Manitoba and grew up in West Kildonan. His career began with the Manitoba Sanatorium Board and then Imperial Oil. He met Pam, the love of his life, at a dance and they married in 1954. He was offered a position with Environment Canada in Kingston where the family spent five wonderful years. Upon returning to Winnipeg, he continued working with Environment Canada before becoming a Project Manager with Indian and Northern Affairs. He enjoyed 22 years of retirement! Ken loved all animals, especially his two special dogs, Sandy and Cory who predeceased him. He treasured the opportunity to see his country from coast to coast to coast and enjoyed trips to the Caribbean and especially England to visit Pam's relatives. Victoria Beach was also a favourite vacation spot. Ken enjoyed carpentry and made many beautiful pieces of furniture. He enjoyed curling and league bowling with Pam. He loved to golf with his family and friends and was an avid gardener. He was an active member of Trinity United Church for over 30 years and volunteered in many capacities to help where it was needed. Ken was a good person - a loving, caring, gentle man, who was a devoted husband, father, granddad, uncle, and friend. He will always be loved and remembered. The family wishes to thank Dr. Hugh Smith for his many years of care, the cardiac unit at the St. Boniface Hospital, and the ER and ICU staff at the Victoria Hospital, especially Dr. Lawrence Gilman. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 10 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity United Church, 933 Summerside Avenue. His friend, Rev. Milly Malavsky, will officiate. If desired, donations may be made to any animal shelter, or a charity of your choice. Companions in Life and in Love.
