BARBARA ANNE BREEN (nee LONEGRAN) 1933 - 2011 It is with great sadness we share that our loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Barbara, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Grace Hospice after a lengthy illness. Remaining to forever cherish Barbara's memory is husband John; children Cathy (Bruce Kjartanson), Teresa (Gerry Vandal), Laura (Blake Smith), David (Denise); grandchildren Melanie and Jonathon Kjartanson, Jennifer and Jeffrey Vandal, Emma and Elie Breen; numerous nieces and nephews. She will be reunited in Heaven with her daughter Carol, sister Betty, and brother Patrick. Barbara was born in Toronto, Ontario on December 15, 1933. She married the love of her life, John, in 1955. In 1973 she relocated with her husband and family to Winnipeg. Barbara was a tireless and devoted homemaker; her family was her greatest treasure. She loved family gatherings and relished in spending time with her children and grandchildren. When her children were grown Barbara worked at Canadian Tire and Welcome Wagon, and became actively engaged in exploring her family history. She and John spent eight years of their retirement living in Nanaimo, BC. She was an active member of the Catholic Women's League, having served as President of the St. Vital Parish C.W.L. Prayers will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Mary, Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive. Funeral Liturgy will be Celebrated on Monday, January 10 at 10:00 a.m. also in the Church, with Fr. Carl Tarnopolski, V.G., presiding. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff at Victoria Hospital and Grace Hospice Palliative Care for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Barbara's memory may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
