KATHLEEN AGNES CURWAIN It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kay Curwain on January 4, 2011 at the age of 91. Left to cherish her memory are son Fred Curwain, daughter and son-in-law, Cathie and Fokke Hoekstra; her brother, John Hyslop, sister and brother-in-law Isobel and Frank Moloney; grandson Dustin Hoekstra and wife Leah, granddaughter Kate Hoekstra, and three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Brooklyn and Sadie. Mom was born in McCauley, Manitoba on the farm she loved so much. She moved into Winnipeg after completing school, where she worked at various jobs. The highlight of her career was working at Eaton's Grill Room where she made many friends and customers, who adored her impeccable service... always making sure they were looked after, always with a smile. When Mom retired, she volunteered with the Transcona Legion Ladies Auxiliary helping them with various functions. Her later years were spent in Gimli, Manitoba, first at her daughter's house, and then moving into Betel Home, on the lake. She enjoyed it there, making many friends, helping out as much as she could. Mom's love was unconditional and everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her loved her. She was happiest when she was helping others, always with an assured smile and a twinkle in her eye. We'll miss you Mom! A celebration of her life will be held in the Spring date to be advised.
