WILLIAM GREEN Peacefully on January 5, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer, William George Green aged 75 made his final journey to his favourite place, the wide open sky. Throughout his illness dad's biggest concern was for his family. He loved his wife and soul mate of 53 years Karen, daughters Joy and husband Percy White, Tracy and husband Doug Maxwell, his grandchildren Kaytlyn, Breann, Brent and wife Megan, Kathy and husband Evan and great-grandson Rowan. Born October 7, 1935 in Whitefish Falls, Ontario dad was the first child born to George and Lerra Green. As the oldest brother to siblings Jack (Heather), Howard (Ilma), Velma (Charles), Betty and Bobby (Maryanne) and with his quiet ways, sense of humor and very deep love of family, he was the glue that kept them together. At the age of 14 dad moved with his family to Red Lake, Ontario where his future as a bush pilot was established. He acquired his pilots license when he was a very young man and thrived in this career flying for Green Airways, OCA, Sherritt Gordon Mines and Lamb Airways. After health problems grounded him dad used his vast knowledge of northern aviation in his new career as Manager of Northern Airports with the Province of Manitoba. He was responsible for all the remote airports scattered throughout Manitoba. Dad married Karen Morrison on November 2, 1957 and together they lived in Red Lake, Lynn Lake, Thompson and upon retirement in 1996 they moved to Gilbert Plains. Dad loved to golf and would be on the course every morning during his retirement. Honoring dad's wishes a celebration of his life was held in Gilbert Plains on Saturday, January 8, 2011. His final resting place will be at a favourite place in Northern Ontario. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Shriners, Cancer Care or Children's Wish Foundation.
