AVIS JOYCE BENNETT February 10, 1946 - January 4, 2011 It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Avis at St. Boniface Hospital. Avis was predeceased by her mother Keturah Burke and her brothers Septimus and Arnold. Left to cherish her memory is her husband David, daughter Karen, son Dave, grand-children Dominic, Kyra and Kareem, brothers Clement (Delores) and Granville, sister Sephline, as well as many relatives and friends. Avis was born in Jamaica and came to Winnipeg in 1968. She worked at Health Sciences Centre for 37 years where she made numerous friends. She was a devoted member of Calvary Temple. Many thanks to all the staff at the Palliative Care Unit for the excellent care she received. Funeral Service in celebration of Avis's life will be held Thursday, January 13 at 12:00 noon at Calvary Temple Buntain Chapel, 400 Hargrave St. Viewing will take place one-half hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations in Avis's memory can be made to CancerCare, Manitoba.
