MARY E. GETZ (nee EVERALL) With deep sorrow her family announces the passing of Mary Elspeth Getz on January 5, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Mary will be sorely missed by her children Katherine (David Silverthorne) of Winnipeg, John (Donna Hallett) of Standard, AB, her grandchildren Daniel and Elyse Silverthorne and Alexander Getz, her sister Janet Everall, nephews, nieces and many good friends. Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Alvin Getz. She met Dad in Winnipeg and they were married at Clear Lake, MB in July 1951. Mary was born in McCreary, MB, the daughter of Earl and Melrose Everall. She received her B.Sc (H.Ec.) and B.Educ. degrees from the University of Manitoba and taught in McCreary, Dauphin, and Winnipeg until her retirement. Mom's most precious times were spent with her family and friends, particularly summers at the Lake and winters in Sarasota, Florida. Our family appreciates all of the kindness shown by so many since Dad died. Special thanks to her very good friend Marie Wilson and the members of her grief support group. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy. A private family interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mom would want you to make a donation to help others, to a charity of your choice.
