MARGUERITE MARIE LIND (nee GAUTHIER) 1912 - 2011 On Sunday, January 2 at the Victoria Hospital, Marguerite left us to join her beloved husband Roy. Margie was the last survivor of a family of eleven. She is survived by son Dennis, daughter-in-law Denise Gamey, grandchildren Savannah and Matthew, also many nieces and nephews in her native Quebec. Margie came to Winnipeg at age 17 to learn to speak English. She stayed with her late uncle Monsignor Cournoyer and attended St. Mary's Academy. Her bilingualism led her to teaching French at Winnipeg Adult Education in the 60's. She met her husband Roy Lind on a blind date, marrying in 1945, after an extended courtship. Roy also taught school. They spent summer vacations traveling extensively throughout North America. In 1970, after Roy's retirement, they spent a year in Jamaica, both teaching. Afterward they purchased a home in Florida, wintering there until 1983 then returning to Winnipeg full time. Margie stayed active in her later years doing her shopping, hair appointments, and banking until four months before her death. The family would like to thank Mary Forsyth for her many years of friendship and support. Also, thanks to Home Care and the staff of Unit 4N for making her last months comfortable. Funeral services will be held at Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 221 Regent Ave., 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 10. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice.
