ERNST MUTH (ERNIE)
Born: Aug 27, 1943
Date of Passing: Jan 02, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNST MUTH (ERNIE) Ernst Muth was born on August 27, 1943 in Kahlhugel, Germany, the youngest son of Alwina and Wilhelm Muth. He immigrated to Canada in early 1951. He attended Pembina Crest Grade School and Vincent Massey High School in Fort Gary, Winnipeg, Manitoba where he grew up. Ernie passed suddenly in the early morning hours of January 2, 2011 in Truro, Nova Scotia. He leaves behind his wife Carol (nee Henderson), of 44 years; his son, Darcy; daughter, Karen (Blair); his grandsons, Damien Muth and Braeden Muth; brothers, Leo and Art (Lisa); sisters, Helen (Ewald), Elfrida (Reinhard), Gertrude (Samuel) and Hilde; many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Ernie was predeceased by his mother Alwine in 1976, his father Wilhelm in 1990, his brother Rubin in 2000 and his in-laws William Henderson in 2001 and Evelyn Henderson in 2007. He began his lengthy career in 1965 with Parkhill Bedding after which he became a partner in Embassy Furniture and Modular 5 Mfg. In 1986 he entered into a new line of work as a Real Estate agent with DelBro Realty. He then joined Rehau Mfg. in 1987 where he remained until his retirement in 2007. Ernie grew up in a family that was very close knit and remained close to his siblings and their families throughout his life. He carried this desire for a close family into his life with his wife and children. Summer family get-togethers were a yearly tradition that continued after he and Carol acquired the family cottage at Gull Lake, Manitoba, which was attended by as many as 50 or more family members. Coincidentally enough, this tradition normally took place in August which was his birth month. A birthday cake for Ernie was always on hand. With his son and daughter not living close by he especially enjoyed many weekends at the cottage with his niece Rita, her husband Harry and their two children Katrina and Caleb. Weekends spent at the cottage always included a day of work around the yard and a day of relaxation. Shortly after his retirement he and Carol built a home in Minnedosa, Manitoba where his son Darcy was living at the time. He and Carol spent a year strengthening their relationship with their grandsons Damien and Braeden. They spent another two years making new friendships and being active in the community. He especially enjoyed his time spent riding his Harley Davidson with his close friend Jim and his afternoon cocktails with Ray when the grass was supposed to be cut. He also took up carving diamond willow walking sticks, taught by his friend Rae. Many Friday evenings you could find Ernie and Carol at the Legion with friends. He had never been afraid to take on a new challenge or try something new. He and Carol had just begun a new adventure after selling their house in Minnedosa and had made the move to Nova Scotia to be closer to their daughter Karen and her husband Blair. He lived his life never having to look back and regret not taking a chance or grasping an opportunity. He passed with no regrets. A celebration of Ernie's life will be held at the Viscount Gort Hotel (1670 Portage Ave., Winnipeg) on Saturday, January 15 at 1:00 p.m. All family and friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice.
