DAVID NORMAN CLAPHAM October 27, 1939 - January 6, 2011 It is with overwhelming sadness that we must announce the passing of our father, Dave Clapham, on January 6, 2011 at the Grace Hospital. Dave was predeceased by his loving wife Barbara in 2008 after 47 years of marriage; his mother Jean and his father Norman. He is survived by his children: Rodney (Lisa), Brenda (Grant), Tracey (Jason) and Tim (Karen). Dave will be sadly missed by his six grandchildren: Tyler, Ashley, William, Emily, David and Matthew; as well as his sister Bev; and his brothers: Bruce (Joyce), Brian (Bobbie), Ken (Lorraine); his step-mother Eleanor; and his mother-in-law Anni Andreas. Dave spent his entire career working at the Manitoba Telephone System (MTS) from August 1956 to October 1994. His first posting was as a Central Office Employee and he finished his career in the Engineering Department as an Outside Plant Engineer. Dave enjoyed many summers relaxing and golfing at Victoria Beach. He loved spending time with his family, curling at the local curling clubs and was an avid gardener who grew the best tomatoes. His pride and joy was decorating his home at Christmas and was proud of the several awards for his light displays. He spent many of his years involved in the community coaching soccer and hockey. The family would like to thank Dr. Stephensen, the staff at the Grace and Riverview Hospitals, and the many home care workers and nurses who helped Dave overcome the many challenges he faced in the last couple of years with their kind and compassionate care. The family would also like to thank Dave's many good friends who were extremely supportive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Lung Association or a charity of choice, in Dave's honour. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., reception to be held after the service. You were loved by many and will be missed by all. May you rest in peace. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
