Georgie is reunited with her husband Thomas Richard (Dick) Booth who left us in June of 1982. She also joins her parents, Thomas and Bernice Wilson, Andrew and Martha Booth; grandson Travis Booth; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kay and Len Sampson; and niece Patricia Wilson. Georgie leaves five sons, David (Edith), Bob (Bonnie), Jim (Karen) of Winnipeg, John of Edmonton and Bill (Dianne) of Calgary. Grandchildren, Jennifer, Aaron, Shaun, Mackinley, Kaitlin, Kelsey, Garrick, Steve and Corey. She also leaves to rejoice in her life, her sister Helen Haverstock (Wallie); great-grand-children, Jesse, Michael, Ryan, Michelle, Olivia, Lucy and Ryleigh; nieces, Judy Chapman (Gary) and Debbie Brent (Gary); nephews, Tom and Todd Haverstock (Gail), as well as many grand and great-grandnieces and nephews. A special place in her heart was her friend Dave Downey. Georgina was born in Dauphin on March 15, 1923 before moving to Winnipeg where she lived her entire life. Following graduation from Success Business College, Georgie went to work at Prudential. She eventually met Dick and they were married at Westminister Church on April 19, 1947. When her boys got older, Mom went to work downtown at The Bay, where she spent many years in the housewares department. Georgina was a truly beautiful lady from the inside out. She was never critical or judgemental of anyone and would always find time for anyone who needed someone to talk to. Mom was one of the original friends of Lois, Bill's wife. Mom was a devoted Christian and very involved in her church, Regents Park United (now St. Mary's Road United) spending countless hours volunteering both at the office and with the United Church Women. Georgie spent many years delivering Meals on Wheels and visiting shut-ins at seniors homes and hospitals. Mom was a doer, when her hearing started to go, she learned to lip read and upon retirement, she decided she needed to learn something about computers so she went to evening classes to learn. Countless hours were spent at the Booth house on Elm Park Road, especially in the summer around the pool, and Mom would always manage to see that everyone who showed up had enough to eat and drink. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Riverview Centre for their care and compassion they constantly showed to our mother, sister, grandma, aunt and great-grandma during her lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. God bless you all. A memorial funeral service will take place at St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Road on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or your charity of choice.
