Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER METCALFE DAFOE May 15, 1933 - January 1, 2011 After a brief illness, Peter passed away on January 1, 2011 at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida. Winnipeg is where he married, raised a family and established a career, working at Investor's Group for 35 years. He travelled the world and walked many beaches, but always seemed the most content when surrounded by his ever-growing family down at the family cottages in Ponemah Beach, Manitoba. It is where he spent every summer, and the perennial return of the clan is testament to the warmth, hospitality and generosity that typified Peter's nature. It is there in his role as patriarch that he will be the most dearly missed. Peter was a loving husband to Joyce, his wife of 50 years. He is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Terry), Van (Joanne), Adam (Garet) and Lynne (Meinte), and by his grandchildren Laurel, Jessica, Mike, Grace, Brigid, Norah, Julian and Aaron. Peter also leaves his siblings Mary, John, Christopher and Jennifer. As per his wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.

I have known Peter nearly all my life but it wasn't until he had the good sense to marry my best friend that we became close. We spent a lot of time together as two couples, each starting out to raise a family and we always had so much fun. Peter was so friendly and open hearted with a personality and intelligence to match.
