EVA MAUD WHITE Early Thursday morning, January 6, 2011, after nine happy decades, Eva, on feathered wings, peacefully left this world to continue her soul's journey in the next. Lovingly awaiting her were her husband of 48 years Raymond, father and mother Arthur and Maud Walkey, brothers Horace, Ralph and Wallace, and sisters Dorothy, Rhoda (May), and Irene, and a veritable menagerie of animals. Eva loved animals from her earliest days, from budgie Midgie, to a St. Bernard Jan-Mandy of Toros. Everything that slithered, ran or flew knew her love equally. Eva (Eve) and Ray found each other in the aftermath of the Second World War. He, the handsome former army motorcycle courier, Eva the beautiful former Cordite plant clerk. Their hearts beat as one to the strains of Glenn Miller as they danced over the boards of the Winnipeg Roller Rink on their way to a long and happy life together. Romantic trips to West Hawk Lake on an Indian motorcycle with a sidecar, gave way to happy trips with sons Ron and Greg in a 1959 Chevy pulling a tin trailer. Eva loved mathematics and numbers in general, but by her own admission, not so much spelling. This led to a long and happy career as an accounting clerk with the Manitoba Provincial Government. Left behind to wish her Godspeed in the continuation of her journey are sons: Ron (Cynthia), Greg (Susan), grandsons Kyle and Michael (Anna-Lise), granddaughters Angela, Christa and Dayna, all of Winnipeg, nephews Ron and Rick Walkey of Vancouver, BC, Doug, Gordon and Stephen White, of Belleville, ON, nieces Ruth of Thunder Bay, ON, Dawn of Langley, WA, and Linda Jones, as well as Mrs. Helen White of Trenton, ON, and Mr. Larry White of Langley, WA. Don't be alarmed by any strange rumblings you may hear in the winter night, it's just the sound of two loving souls taking one more spin around a roller rink just beyond our sight. The family wishes to thank very much all of the staff of CD-2 at the Riverview Health Centre, Winnipeg, for all of the incredible care and attention they provided for our Mother during the last few months of her life. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society, or a charity of their own choosing.
