INGIMAR (INGI) DANIEL DANIELSON September 8, 1918 - December 13, 2010 Ingi passed quietly from this world with the same dignity and strength that he lived his 92 years in the early morning hours of December 13, 2010. He was predeceased by his father Gudjon, mother Lauga, brothers Norman, Baldur (Inga) Gudjon (known as Dan, (Elleane), brothers-in-law Bill Palsson and John Riordan. He is loving remembered by sisters Alma Riordan and Gene Palsson and brother Gordon (Helen). He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and friends. Born on the family farm September 8, 1918, Ingi attended the Bjarmi and Ardal schools. He worked on the family farm until he joined the Army in July 15, 1942. He served with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and the Royal Canadian Artillery and was stationed in Prince Rupert, B.C., Aleutians Islands, Alaska, Great Britain, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He returned January 1, 1946 and was discharged February 4, 1946. Upon his return he went back to farming and during the winter months he worked at lumbering at Danielsons' Mill. In 1947 he bought the west farm in Framnes. He continued to stay on the family farm and took over from his parents in 1961. He farmed in partnership with his brother Baldur and then later with his nephew Glen. Ingi travelled to Iceland in 1985 with his sister Alma. He was secretary on the Arborg Pool Committee from 1961 to 1984. He was a member of the Canadian Shorthorn Association. Ingi was also on the Board of the Arborg Community Cemetery for many years. Ingi farmed till he was 89 years old and only retired due to ill health. Even after he left the farm he continued to remain involved sharing his wisdom and vast array of knowledge from his many years of experience. Ingi was a kind and gentle man who was very devoted to his family. He was generous and had a tremendous sense of duty and supported many worthy causes. He had an excellent sense of humour and was a very well read man. Ingi had a strong work ethic and a love and concern for all animals. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the Home Care and the Arborg Personal Care Home. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Ardal Geysir Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Arborg Community Cemetery, Arborg Personal Care Home, Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church. Arborg MacKenzie Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
