Date of Passing: Jan 07, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERNHARD HARDER Peacefully, on Friday, January 7, 2011, at Deer Lodge Centre, Bernie passed away. He was predeceased by his wife Freda in 1997. Left to cherish his memory are his son Niel, daughter Shannon (Wilfred), grandsons Blake and Tanner, and sister-in-law Pat Jefferson in Morecambe, England. Bernie was born in Altona, MB in June 1923. At the age of 19 he joined the RCAF and went overseas to serve. He met and married Freda who was serving in the WAF and eventually they came to Canada after the war ended. Bernie worked for Kipp Kelly Ltd., the Canada Post Office, and retired from the Winnipeg International Airport. After leaving the RCAF he joined and remained a member of the 402 Squadron Reserves for many years. He was well known as the neighborhood Mr. Fix It and people knew to come to him if something wasn't working or a tool was needed. He was a caring and loving Father and Grandfather and was always there when needed. Thank you Dad for all you shared with us. Dad spent his last seven months at Deer Lodge Centre, Tower 4, Veterans Wing. Words cannot express our gratefulness to all the staff for the kindness and loving care they gave him. It gave us peace of mind knowing that he was safe and receiving the care and dignity he deserved. At Dad's request, cremation has taken place, and a private service held. Eigengrund Rest in Peace Dad
