ALFONS RICHTER Alfons Richter of Marchand, MB, passed away on December 25, 2010 at the Steinbach General Hospital. Alfons was born in Germany where he attended university, studying Agriculture. He came to Canada alone; as a very young man; leaving behind his father and mother and his only sibling, a brother. All are now deceased. Alfons was a very independent, strong, intelligent, reserved man with riveting, deep blue eyes, who had a great sense of humour. He was a great gardener and he loved to cook. Alfons was a wonderful dancer being very light on his feet from his days as a boxer. Alfons' interest were many, but the one which gave him the most pleasure were his beloved pigeons. Alfons never married and his pigeons were his family. Alfons was happiest when he was helping others. He made the decision to leave a legacy of building wells in Africa so families could have safe drinking water. Alfons was a long distance truck driver for Penner International of Steinbach, retiring after 30 years of dedicated, loyal, conscientious service. Alfons will be missed by all who knew him and whose lives he touched. In accordance with Alfons' wishes, cremation has taken place.
