GORDON ROY WITTMAN Passed away suddenly in Oakville, on Friday January 14, 2011, in his 80th year. Loving husband of 47 years of Audrey (nee Ursel - deceased). Beloved father of Douglas and his wife Anne, and Nancy and her husband Michael Brown. Proud grandfather of Lindsay, Tyler and Tjana. Son of the late Adam and Margaret Wittman. He was educated at the University of Manitoba where he graduated with a degree in Engineering (chemical) in 1950. Upon graduation he began a long and distinguished career with DuPont of Canada. At the time of his retirement from DuPont he held the position of president. Gord was then appointed the Board of Directors with Nexen Canada and held the position until his retirement in 2002. While Gord enjoyed all sports he excelled in the game of golf. Friends may call at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road W, Oakville , (905) 844-2600 on Tuesday, January 18 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at St. John's United Church, 262 Randall Street, Oakville on Wednesday, January 19 at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment at Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery. Reception to follow. If desired, donations in memory of Gordon can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Cancer Society.
