EDGAR JOSEPH BARTLETTE Peacefully with his loving family at his side, Edgar passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 88 years of age. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Evelyn, of 68 years, daughters Susan and Shirley, son Darryl, grandchildren Sandra, Debby, Richard, Leann and Christy, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He will also be remembered by his sisters Jean Penner, Lucille McPhee and Annette McLeod, brother Edward, and numerous nieces and nephews. Edgar was predeceased by his son Michael in 2008, great-granddaughter, baby Hope, brothers Leo, Albert and Charles, sisters Agathe, Ida and Valentine, and parents Eva and Jean-Baptiste. Edgar was born in Union Point, MB on September 12, 1922. He joined the Army and served overseas in the Second World War, where he met and married his English bride Evelyn. They eventually came to Canada when the war ended. Dad was a humble and quiet person who had a quick wit and a beautiful smile that could brighten anyone's day. He loved being with his family, working in the yard, and his many trips back to England. Dad spent his last 21 months at Deer Lodge Centre, T4 Veterans Wing, and was treated with love, kindness and respect. Words cannot express the gratefulness to everyone at Deer Lodge for your compassion and loving care, daily hellos and wonderful greetings given to our Dad. A special thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the doctors, nurses and caregivers who made dad's last week as comfortable as possible. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford St.
