SUSAN ROSALIE GROSS (nee RAY) July 28, 1948 - January 19, 2011 The family is deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved and courageous wife, sister, Mother and Grandmother on January 19, 2011 at the Selkirk General Hospital. Susan was the fifth of six children born to George and Ella (nee Groff) Ray. She is survived by her siblings Virginia, David (Carol), Stephen, Janet (Marlyn) and Andrea, her loving husband and eternal companion George, six of her seven children, George (Dianna), Nathan, Camille Sikorsky (Michael), Shane (Tannis), Joel (Mindy) and Genevieve Atnip (Graham), 22 grandchildren and their extended families. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Ella Ray and her eldest daughter Bethany Ball (Jeff). Susan was born in Winnipeg and lived most her life in Manitoba. On December 20, 1966, she married the love of her life, George C.H. Gross and together they raised their family beginning in Nourse, MB, then Winnipeg, Moose Jaw and finally returned full circle to Nourse in 1981 where they settled, creating their beautiful hobby farm. Her family and her faith meant everything to her. Her deep faith was epitomized by her dedication and service to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the last 45 years. She spent thousands of hours doing genealogical work. Susan loved people and hearing about their lives. She also loved nature, recycling and spent many hours whipper-snipping and increasing the size of her flowerbeds. She was charitable, generous to a fault and famous for her apple crisps, posture pillows, homemade cards and story telling. Her puns and unique uplifting wit made her the punster extra-ordinaire who lifted spirits wherever she went. Susan was friendly, faithful and fearless to the end. Her service will be held at the 700 London Street LDS Chapel in Winnipeg on January 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. When I remember a beautiful woman, the best wife my father could have, the dearest friend a child could want, I think of the mother I love. By Susan Rosalie Ray Gross for her mother. FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS IN CARE OF: WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVENUE WEST (AT BOND ST.) 224-1525
