WALTER HRECHUK 1925 - 2011 Walter was born in Winnipeg on October 12, 1925. He moved with his parents, Pearl and George Hrechuk, to a farm in St. Andrews, Manitoba in 1929. There his sister Jennie and brother Fred were born. Walter worked at various jobs in the St. Andrews area after he left school. He began working at Greb Shoes in 1946 on the assembly line. When the company was sold in 1978, he was Plant Services Manager. He then worked for the City of Winnipeg as a maintenance man for 12 years until his retirement. In 1950, he met Wanda Novak at a Bible study and they were married two years later on June 27, 1952. They had two children, David and Debbie. Walter had a deep faith in God and his life was devoted to serving the Lord. He was an Elder in the Ukrainian Bible Students of Winnipeg. For 65 years, he was active in publishing a Ukrainian Bible study journal entitled Zorinnia . His joy in life was attending Bible studies and conventions and reading the Scriptures. Walter lived a full and active life until he entered the hospital on December 13 suffering the effects of old age and Parkinson's disease. He died peacefully in his sleep on January 18, 2011. He is survived by his son David (Jean) Hrechuk; daughter Debbie (Robert) Wiggins and his grandson Rylan; his sister Jennie Fenstad; brother Fred Hrechuk and nieces and nephews. Funeral service will take place Monday, January 24, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Interment and reception will follow. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca
