NOEL LANTHIER In the early hours of Wednesday, January 19, 2011, Noel passed away at Foyer Valade. Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife Anne, his daughter Nicole (Kurt), son Marc, grandson Derek Noel, brother Luc (Raymonde), sister-in-law Albertine and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gerald and Susan Wallace. Noel is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Noel was predeceased by his father and mother, Antonio and Emilia; brother Roman; and sisters, Bernadette (Joseph) Laramee and Flore (Stan) Ulasy. Noel was born and raised in St. Boniface, and he worked in his family's furrier business and later for MPIC. He was a talented musician and enjoyed playing his clarinet in the LaVerendrye band. Noel was an avid sportsman; he played hockey, in his youth suiting up for the St. Boniface Canadiens, and also enjoyed badminton and tennis. A particular love was curling which he played into his eighties. Noel was a loving and devoted family man. He always enjoyed activities with his family like skating, sledding, tennis and camping. Particularly memorable were cross-country family road trips. He was a man of deep and abiding faith, and a loyal churchgoer throughout his life. The family is appreciative of the staff of 4E at St. Boniface Hospital and Foyer Valade for their attentive and compassionate care. A memorial mass will be held on Monday, January 24 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Eugene Church, 1007 St. Mary's Rd. Parking available at back of church.
