GEOFFREY DONALD GOMEZ April 25th, 1937 January 21st, 2011 Geoffrey Donald Gomez died peacefully on January 21, 2011 at Riverview Health Centre, at the age of 73. At the age of 18 Geoffrey joined Canadian National Railways as an Assistant Station Agent and from there for the next 13 years relieved Station Agents and Train Order Operators from The Lakehead to the Alberta Border. After qualifying as a Railway Train Dispatcher (G.D.G.), now called Rail Traffic Controller, Geoffrey spent the next 27 years of his career working in the CN Station in Winnipeg. Geoffrey always felt very privileged to be able to join Canadian National Railways and work with so many talented, conscientious, and hard working people. He enjoyed a long retirement paid for by Canadian National Railways which allowed him to travel in comfort and do all the things he never dreamed he would do. Geoffrey was a Country Boy who got lucky and knows it. Thanks CN Rail for giving me a wonderful life. Geoffrey wishes to thank the Palliative Care nurses and the doctors at The St. Boniface Hospital for all their care and compassion. Special thanks to Dr. Majid Shojania and Primary Nurse Agnes Remillard. Geoffrey will be sadly missed by his friend and companion Marguerite. So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. In keeping with Goeffrey's wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held.
