EILEEN DOROTHY SOBERING (BURNS) It is with deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Eileen Sobering, at the age of 93, at the Bethania Personal Care Home on January 22, 2011 with her family at her side. She is survived by her sons Donald (Joyce), Lyle (Cindy), eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Mary Burns, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Tom and Lena Burns, her husband John Sobering and her brother Gordon Burns. Mom was a loving caring person who spent many hours caring for others and spreading her love throughout her family. She was a lady of many talents. Our most treasured memories will be of her gifts of knitted items and especially her world famous cinnamon buns and apple pie. Mom was an avid curler and bowler having taken many trophies in these sports over the years. The Blue Jays couldn't have a more dedicated fan. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the nurses and staff of Bethania Personal Care Home for their compassionate care and understanding. Funeral service and a celebration of Mom's life will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons, Josh, Levi, Colton, Daniel, Brady and Liam Sobering and Curtis Halek. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom's memory may be made to Friends of Bethania Memorial Fund, 1045 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2K 3S7 or a charity of your choice.
