LUELLA MILNE Peacefully on Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Grace Hospice, Luella Milne, age 75, passed away after a lengthy illness with cancer. Luella was predeceased by her parents Dave and Fern Chandler of Regina, brothers Bill Chandler, Lethbridge, Jack Chandler, Regina, and her first husband Bill Halstead in Winnipeg in 1991. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Richard, sister Doreen Moore, Regina, nephews Don Chandler, Lethbridge, Mark, Guy, David, and Michael Chandler, all of Regina, niece Colleen Chandler, Calgary, and sister-in-law Daryl Chandler, Regina. She will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by Richard's sons Doug (Marcia), Houston, TX, Grant (Peju), Rockville, MD, Barry (Heather), Winnipeg, and their families. Luella was born and educated in Regina. She worked as a technical secretary in Calgary for 24 years before moving to Winnipeg in 1980. Luella and her husband Rich were married in Winnipeg in 1996 and enjoyed 15 happy years together, wintering at their home in Mesa, AZ, and spending much of their summers at the Milne family cottage at Minaki, ON. They traveled extensively, visiting Africa, Alaska / Yukon, New Zealand, China, Japan, Europe and the Mediterranean. Luella was a good athlete. Tennis was her favourite sport. She played competitive tennis for many years with the Viewpoint Tennis Club in Mesa, AZ, and the ladies at Taylor Tennis Club in Winnipeg, who have been so kind and helpful during this difficult time. Lue also enjoyed golf, swimming, fishing, and was an excellent quilter. She was diagnosed with cancer last April and dealt with this disease with great courage and dignity for the past nine months. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Grace Hospice. A memorial service will be held at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd., on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 2.00 p.m., the Rev. Dr. Michael Wilson officiating. Private interment at a later date at Chapel Lawn Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
