BUHLER (nee UNGER) 1899 2011 Elizabeth Buhler, Canada's oldest citizen at the age of 111 years, had her long awaited wish fulfilled when God called her home on Sunday January 23, 2011 at 9:35 p.m. She was born on February 8, 1899. She leaves to mourn her passing her three daughters, Lena Pranke of Winnipeg, Mary and John Dyck of Killarney, Justina and Peter Suderman of Winnipeg and daughter-in-law, Sara Buhler as well as son-in-law, Herb and Elaine Penner; 23 grandchildren and 55 great- grandchildren, 39 great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Isaac W. Buhler in 1970, two sons, Isaac in 2009 and Willie at birth, two daughters, Lorina Wieler in 2000 and Tena Penner in 1963. Viewing will be at Wiebe Funeral Home, 121 8th St. in Winkler on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Memorial service will be held at the Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church 252 6th St. on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with interment prior to the service at the Winkler Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elizabeth's memory to either Back to the Bible or Salem Foundation Inc., available at the church.
