Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATIE KORNIK (nee WIDISH) Peacefully on Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Arborg Personal Care Home, Katie Kornik passed away at the age of 91. Katie was predeceased by her husband Philip; parents, Mary and Cornelius; siblings, Annie, Mary, Bill, Steve, Mike, James and John. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Betty (John) Morowski, Garry (Veronica) Kornik, Kim (Roger) Hibbert; grandchildren, Kerry, Darrell, Michelle, Kelly (Jamie), Dayna, Chad (Jessica), Lauren and Brent; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Brooke, Joshua and Sydney. Katie was born in the village of Ladywood MB, then moved to Rosenburg as a young girl and attended school there. She then resided and worked in Winnipeg, then Toronto as a seamstress. She returned back home to take care of her mother who had taken ill. She married Philip in 1945 and they resided in Ledwyn where they farmed. Katie worked hard on the farm, keeping a huge garden, raising livestock, and doing farm chores. She also did other jobs like cleaning and home care in Riverton. She made hand sewn comforters and clothing for her children, grandchildren and others. Her special Ukrainian meals were enjoyed by her family and friends. Katie enjoyed her grandchildren, and they, always enjoyed visiting Grandma on weekends, and especially loved her huge garden and her special homemade chicken noodle soup. She was a very giving person. We will miss her warm heartfelt ways. Lovingly remembered and forever in our hearts. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home for their compassionate care for Katie over the past several years. Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A graveside service will be held at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery, Ledwyn. Time and day will be published closer to the date.
