DELMAR JOHN RICHARDSON Peacefully on January 25, 2011, Del passed away at the age of 86 years. Left to cherish Del's memory is his wife of 55 years, Doreen (Renee); his children, Debbie Robitaille (Jacques), Gary (Maureen) and Colleen; plus his grandchildren, Nicolas, Bryn, Callum, and Renée. Del was born June 10, 1924 in Saltcoats, Saskatchewan. Before leaving Saskatchewan he had run his own bicycle shop, a pool hall, and became a journeyman electrician. Always, the Entrepreneur, Del moved into Winnipeg in the 1950s to chase bigger opportunities. Through his lengthy business career, he owned a number of companies. The largest of which is celebrating its 60th anniversary and is still in the family. His favourite place away from the office was the family place at Clearwater Bay, Lake of the Woods. Always the handyman, Del spent countless hours beautifying this property. When he wasn't doing this, he loved to be out on his boat exploring. At one point in Del's career, he owned a factory in Scotland which meant many trips to Europe on business. Renee joined him for a number of these trips. They also enjoyed their hot holidays away to many southern locations. Del was an avid photographer filming hundreds of hours of movies from his travels and of his family. Del was always strong and confident. He and Renee instilled these qualities in their three children who will be forever grateful. The family would like to thank the staff at Vista Park Lodge for their care and compassion over the last few months of Dad's illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 3 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO. • Sorry to hear of your fathers passing. I was watching curling from Yorkton the other day and sawvthe name Richardson on the ice and the anouncers mentioned Salt Coats. So I wondered what ever happened to Del. Your Grandmother was my fathers (Harry Brockwell) sister Violet Brockwell Richardson).
