GLADYS ANNE CRAIG (nee SAINSBURY) 1912 - 2011 Peacefully, surrounded by love and in the place she had come to know as home, Gladys passed away on January 21, 2011. She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her five daughters and their families: Maureen Orchard (Jim) and their children Karilee, Darla (Luc), Jamie (Jean-Luc) and Grady (Roslin); Judy Shinkarik and her son Todd (Polyxeni); Lesley Suggitt (Jim) and their children Jeff (Carol) and Leanne (Blair); Nancy Craig-Cohen and her sons Jonathon and Adam; Laurey Craig (Gerry Humphreys) and their children Paul (Samantha), Josh, Jesse, Alysha and Madyson; as well as her 13 great-grandchildren and her dear sister Doreen Helm. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1976 and four of her siblings. Mom illustrated her independent spirit by preparing her own obituary: Through life I have had the love of my family, which is a treasure beyond compare, along with the true friendship of many wonderful people. I was fortunate indeed to have the companionship for 40 years of one whose love and caring I desired beyond all else, and without which my life would not have been fulfilled. Compared to those blessings what are flowers or words or eulogy? Those I love are the wind beneath my wings, now I fly to those I loved who went before me. Our family would like to express sincere Thanks to the staff at the Fred Douglas Lodge for taking such good care of our Mom. The compassion and caring that was shown to Mom will not be forgotten. At Mom's request there will be no service. The family will celebrate her amazing life at a private interment. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her memory to the Fred Douglas Lodge, 1275 Burrows Ave. She left us with a wink and a smile. • I will always remember Gladys (Mrs. Craig!) for her welcoming smile at the house on Lyndale Dr. and on those early Saturday morning drives to the St. Vital Y. My deepest sympathies to the family for their loss. - Posted by: Marilyn Nairn (Friend) on: Jan 30, 2011
