DOUGLAS ROBERT (DOUG) MILHAUSEN 1938 - 2011 Peacefully at Riverview Health Centre, on January 24, 2011 with his wife Doreen at his side, Doug lost his four and a half month battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Doreen of 41 years, his mother Gladys, his sister-in-law Marjorie Strelioff, nephew Rob (Sandy) and their son Kevin. Doug was predeceased by his father Grant; and his in-laws, Eleanor Eades and Ted (Nan) Eades. Doug was born in Waskada, MB, raised in Brandon and Winnipeg and has been residing in East Fort Garry since 1953. Doug was fortunate to enjoy 19 years of retirement after a 35 year career with the Canadian Wheat Board. He retired as director of Country Services. Doug's passions in life were curling, baseball, downhill skiing, golf, billiards and bowling. He retired from baseball, curling and skiing years ago but enjoyed golf through many years at the Winnipeg Canoe Club, Elmhurst Golf and Country Club and most recently at the Selkirk Golf and Country Club. He played competitive billiards with the Winnipeg Veterans English Billiards League out of the Fort Rouge Legion and enjoyed bowling with the Elmhurst Gang . Doug was a devoted family man, supporting his wife Doreen in her many endeavours and his mother Gladys in her many years as a widow. A private and shy soul, he enjoyed a close friendship with his neighbours, Emma and Lily who called him Milhausen and thought of him as an extra Grandpa. Generous with friends and those close to him, Doug will be missed by many. Thank you to the following for wonderful care, both emotionally and helping out: Carol, Kathleen, Neil, Ted and Donna, Marj, Ron, Elaine, Alice, Sheryl and Franklin, CancerCare Manitoba, nurses, doctors and aides of 3 East Riverview, and to those I haven't named, thank you also. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Riverview Health Centre, D'Arcy's Animal Rescue Centre or the Winnipeg Humane Society. In keeping with Doug's wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. Online condolences may be made at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550
