JOAN HELEN ROMANOFF November 8, 1924 January 31, 2011 Surrounded by her loving family, Mom passed away very peacefully on January 31, 2011. Mom will be sadly missed by her daughters, Jill Martin and Shelley Stroski (Mark), daughter-in-law Karen Romanoff, and brother Eric Martin (Caroline) in England. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Jean Romanoski (David), brother-in-law Morris Romanoff (Shirley), eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Bill, beloved sons, Paul and Barrie and son-in-law Mike. Mom was born in London, England and following the Second World War came to Canada as a war bride. Family was a huge part of Mom's life. She was kept busy running the household, raising four children and supporting Dad's musical career. Mom volunteered at the Health Sciences Centre and later worked as a paraprofessional in a number of Winnipeg schools. She finished her career at Queenston School, which was her most enjoyable working experience. Over the years Mom bowled at Mosienko Lanes and travelled to many destinations, her favourite being Hawaii. Summers were spent at the family cottage at Grand Beach, sitting on the deck and visiting with family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff on 2 West at the Maples Personal Care Home for the compassionate and loving care given to Mom. A special thank you to the WRHA Home Care Program which enabled Mom to remain in her home after Dad's passing. Mom especially appreciated the care and friendship of her favourite home care worker, Linda. A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined and if desired, donations may be sent to the Canadian Diabetes Association 200-310 Broadway Avenue, Winnipeg MB, R3C 0S6.
