Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRAYMOND VERNON FETTERMAN September 22, 1923 - February 1, 2011 Raymond passed away peacefully at the River Park Gardens Personal Care Home on Tuesday, February 1, 2011. Raymond was predeceased by his father, Laude, and mother, Hesper Fetterman, his two brothers, Cecil (Bud) and Ronald, and two of his sisters, Phyllis Poor and Beth Hallick. He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Nelma, his long-time special friend, Agnes Giesbrecht and eight nieces and nephews. Raymond was born on the family farm at Starbuck, Manitoba. At a young age he assumed many farming responsibilities which he continued until he sold his farm to his nephews in 1998. He also worked for many years at the Manitoba Sugar Beet Plant. To reduce the commuting time he bought a house on Centennial Street in Winnipeg in 1974 and lived there until he moved to the Rosewood Retirement Community in 2008. Golfing, fishing, bowling, and travel were his major leisure activities. He liked to avoid the winter cold by visiting Arizona and Texas. He also travelled to many other U.S. states including Alaska, Michigan, and Iowa. He was a member of Starbuck Lodge No. 160, a very early member (#94) of the Starbuck Credit Union, and a member of the Starbuck United Church. His great sense of humour enabled him to enjoy his many social activities. Raymond sincerely appreciated the loving care which he received from the wonderful staff at the Rosewood Retirement Community and River Park Gardens. A special thank you goes to all the staff who ensured he was very comfortable. The celebration of Raymond's life will be held at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home at 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, Winnipeg, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, with Rev. Cathy Maxwell officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at the Starbuck Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2, or a charity of your choice.
