CATHERINE ANN (KAY) STANNARD (nee SIMS) 1922 - 2011 On February 3 2011, Kay Stannard passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Kay was predeceased by her husband Harry and her daughter Maureen. She also leaves behind nine grand-children, Derek and Kara Stannard, Joey and Ryan Melchior, Alicia (Jimmy), Miranda (Derek) and Demi De Leeuw, Luke and Adam Stannard and her many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Kay worked at Eaton's for over 25 years and spoke fondly of the strong friendships she had made that continued long after her retirement. Kay was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. People were drawn to Kay by her kind and selfless ways. She was a loyal and caring friend; she loved deeply and unconditionally and was incredibly proud of her family. Kay had a strong faith and her life's joy was simply her family, she needed nothing more. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all the very special and wonderful people who cared for Kay at St. Boniface Hospital, both in the emergency department and on 6A South, Family Medicine. We were deeply touched by the compassion, patience and support shown to all of us by each and every person who cared for Kay. A celebration of Kay's life will be held at St. Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford St. at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2011. Father Gerry McDougall will be officiating.
