Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREEN COOK January 19, 1937 - February 2, 2011 It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, cousin and friend Doreen. Left to cherish her memory is her brother Bill (Liz), cousin Karen Flanigan and numerous cousins, aunts, nephews, nieces and friends. Doreen was predeceased by her parents Marguerite Rita and Stanley Cook, and her brother James. Doreen was born in Belmont, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg with her family at an early age. She lived and went to school in the North End and made lasting friendships. Doreen started working at an early age at various jobs. Her last employment was with Acklands Ltd. for over 30 years from where she retired in 2002. She enjoyed her retirement by taking life easy and travelling from time to time. During her working years Doreen was an active member of the Winnipeg Quota Club where she held the positions of Secretary and President. This Executive Women's Club provided her the opportunity to travel and meet people from other parts of the world. Doreen was a warm, kind and caring person and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held in Doreen's memory on Monday, February 7 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so desire, donations may made in Doreen's memory to a charity of your choice. Not how did she die, but how did she live? Not what did she gain, but what did she give? These are the units to measure the worth Of a person, regardless of birth. Not, what was her church, nor what was her creed? But had she befriended those really in need? Was she ever ready, with word of good cheer, To bring back a smile, to banish a tear? Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say, but how many were sorry when she passed away.
