JOSEPH EDWIN GODSELL 1932 - 2011 On January 22, 2011, after a long, strong struggle with cancer Ed raised his arms upwards and surrendered to a higher power. Ed was born in Richmond Yorks, UK and served in the RAF for 25 years. He will be forever missed by his wife Donna of 29 years and sons Derrick of Calgary and Brian of Winnipeg; his sister Pam (John) North Yorks, UK; brother-in-law Jim and sister-in-law Doris, both of Nanaimo; brother-in-law Joe (Carole) of Winnipeg. He leaves behind precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Thanks to his family physician Dr. Ian Montgomery, Palliative Care Dr. Calvin, as well as the special nurses for their care and compassion shown to Ed and the comfort given to his family at this difficult time. The family will honour Ed's wishes for no service and in lieu of flowers choose a time to have your own reflections of memories shared. Cheers!!.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Uncle 'Tim' he was never 'Edwin' to us was my much loved uncle. He, as I was growing up was my 'dashing hero'. He represented a life that I never thought I in my little Yorkshire town would ever emulate. He appeared periodically throughout my childhood to visit his family, my mam and dad (his sister and brother-in-law)and I as a child looked up to him as some sort of hero. I managed (with the help of the internet) in his later years, to have a happy connection with him. He told me of his wonderful time when following retirement, he and Donna bought a camper van and toured America. I loved his wit, intelligence and humour. I just wish he was here now so I could share with him the wonderful life I am living as I with my husband travel the world. I loved him. - Posted by: June Pallas (Niece) on: Jan 13, 2016
