ANNIE WIENS (nee KAMPEN) It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Annie Wiens aged 79 years on the morning of February 5, 2011, at Bethania Personal Care Home. She is survived by son Werner; son Arthur and his wife Sharon, and her two precious grand-daughters, Leah and Laura; sister Tina Sawatzky; sister Mary Loewen (Willy); brother George Kampen (Mariechen); brother-in-law Vitus Martens; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parent's Gerhard and Maria Kampen (nee Klassen); her loving husband of 48 years Erwin; brother-in-law Pete Sawatzky; sister-in-law Helen Martens; daughter-in-law Dorothey; and granddaughter Lori. Annie was born in Gnadenthal, Ukraine on August 27, 1931, and as the Second World War drew to a close the family fled to Germany and then immigrated to Canada in 1948, ultimately settling in what would become her lifetime home in Winnipeg. After marrying her beloved Erwin in 1955, Annie devoted herself to her family and numerous volunteer endeavours; several decades of Mennonite church ladies auxiliary groups (Frauenverein), 35 years volunteering at Bethania PCH, including six years as a member of their board of directors. The family wishes to thank Dr. Loepp and the dedicated, compassionate and hardworking staff at Bethania Personal Care Home for their tender, loving care. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay, at 10:30 a.m. The reception will be held immediately after the service in the church. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home, 1045 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2K 3S7. Donation envelopes will be available at the service. Arrangements entrusted to: KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson Hwy. 338-0331 Send expressions of sympathy at www.klassenfuneralhome.com
