His long career with the Winnipeg Electric Company and Manitoba Hydro began on the Winnipeg River at Seven Sisters which was followed by project work at the Brandon and Selkirk generating stations. After that he went into transmission line construction and he was proud to have been involved in the construction of the high voltage transmission network in Manitoba and in Tanzania, East Africa. After he retired from Manitoba Hydro in 1983, he consulted part time and remained active at the Manitoba Hydro Electric Museum. He spent many wonderful summers at Ironwood Point on Lake Winnipeg, took up downhill skiing, and spent much time visiting with his children and grandchildren whom he adored. He was an avid history reader, did extensive research into the family genealogy, and loved the hours he spent every day walking his dogs, Heidi, Casper and Cupid. The family wishes to thank all those wonderful people at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority especially the doctors and nurses at the Grace Hospital who attended to his care over the past few months. Gordon was so loved and will be greatly missed by all those who were touched by his life.
