Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET LORRAINE ROGERS (nee BENSON) Peacefully on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, surrounded by family, Vi joined Don, the love of her life. Vi and her twin sister, Fjola, were born in Gimli on November 2, 1919 to John and Dora Benson and grew up on Red Deer Point. She loved the family ranch and looked forward to helping out haying each summer. Vi and Don met in Winnipeg and were married on September 6, 1948 in the front yard of the family home she loved. They lived and worked together in Winnipeg where they, in partnership with Don's parents, owned and operated Rogers Tom Boy. Mom was active in curling for many years, both on the ice and as an organizer and junior curling mentor and was always ready for a game of cards or going dancing, but the most important thing in her life was her family. Vi was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her and has left her family a legacy of love. She is survived by her children: Donna and George Rettig, Ian and Wendy Rogers, Kim and Terry Sharman; her grandchildren: Greg Rettig and Kelly Alexander and their children Katie and Carter, Kevin Rettig and Danielle Peloquin, Tracy Rettig and Jeremy Sewell and son Phaolan, Shana Rogers and family, Nikki and Jeff Palmer and their children, Leni and Sloane, Jacquelynn Sharman, Trevor Sharman, Kristina Sharman; her siblings: Laura Wasylciw, Polly Goodman, Leona Namaka, Ben and Gail Benson, and Myrtle Benson. She was predeceased by her husband, Don, her parents, John and Dora Benson, Don's parents, Jim and Gertie Rogers, her siblings, Kay and Bill Lindal, Fjola and Cliff Matthews, Gesli Benson, Freda and Mark Brown, Kap Goodman, Peter Wasylciw, and Stafford Namaka, and Vic and Joyce Rogers. A memorial service to celebrate Vi's life will be held on Friday, February 11, at 9:00 a.m. at the United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota Street with Rev. Shelly Manley-Tannis officiating.
