Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMONTE PHILLIP STOLAR January 13, 1935 - February 6, 2011 Peacefully on February 6, 2011, Monte passed away with family at his side, at Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 76 years. Dad was predeceased by his parents Peter and Lena Stolar. Also predeceased by his son-in-law, Bruce Wilson. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Andy, Colleen (Bruce) and Craig (Kathy), and his grandchildren, Lauren, Sarah and little Sarah. Also left to cherish his memory are Jeannette Stolar and many other close friends including Audrey and her family. Dad became a police officer and firefighter in 1962 with the then City of Transcona. He remained a police officer after the amalgamation of the suburbs into the city of Winnipeg Police Service until his retirement on January 21, 1995. His years as a cop made for so many great stories. One of his greatest joys were his grandchildren. He was at our house every Saturday morning to have coffee and visit with his Punker and Peanut. Everyone who knew Dad will know that he had a fixation with Mickey Mouse and this was evident by his home décor. Celebration of Dad's life will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road at 2:00 p.m. Private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dad's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation MISS ME BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we must take And each must go alone, It's all part of the Master's Plan A step on the road to home. So when you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know, And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds Miss me, but let me go.
