She was survived by children Marlene (George) Sandor of Calgary, AB, Beryl (Norman) Littke of Winnipeg, Robert (Debbie) Braid of Lilyfield, Raymond (Judi) Braid of Stony Mountain and sister-in-law Helena Crawford of Stonewall. Muriel had 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Muriel was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Gilbert Kelly Braid (passed on June 7, 1991), son Brian Braid (passed on May 12, 1998) and brothers Godfrey and Don Murray. Muriel was the middle child born to Alfred and Mary Murray in the Township of Osgoode, ON on April 23, 1913. The family moved from Osgoode to Nevada for a short time and later moved back to Manitoba. They enjoyed living in Balmoral, MB and later moved to Winnipeg. Muriel attended St. Edward's School, Greenway School, General Wolfe School and Daniel Mac School. Muriel was then employed at Eaton's until she married Gilbert in 1940. She and Gilbert moved to the Braid family farm in Lilyfield where they raised their five children. Mom was a longstanding member of the Catholic Women's League in Winnipeg. She loved to garden, bowl, knit and was an avid reader. She enjoyed her many pets and was always happy to be surrounded by her family. We will miss her dearly for her kind words, gentle nudges and most of all her wonderful sense of humour. Prayers will be held at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Stony Mountain on February 11, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Many thanks to the medical and nursing staff at the Stonewall and District Health Centre for their loving and compassionate care of Mom. Arrangements entrusted to MacKenzie Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Stonewall.
