WARREN CARL BROTEN 1924 - 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, Warren Broten. Warren passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Poseidon Care Centre. Warren was born August 8, 1924 in Dacotah, Manitoba where he later built the family home and farmed. He also worked at Gillis Garage until 1977 when he moved to Winnipeg. Warren was predeceased by his loving wife Vera in 1996; son Wayne; parents, Henry and Florence; and siblings, Ken, Vernon and Shirley. He is survived by his sons, Glenn (Lynn), Craig (Brigitte), Ron (Yolande) and Barry; grand-children, Vicky, Tracy, Michelle, Kyle, Robert, Marc, Ryan, Krystin, Brent, Justin, Dean, Lisa; many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, as well as his special friend Beth. Dad will always be remembered as a gentle and patient man. He enjoyed farming, curling, playing cards, gardening, fishing, camping, listening to baseball and watching hockey. Most of all, Dad enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Grace Hospital and Poseidon Care Centre for the kind and compassionate care Warren received. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck, Manitoba.
