Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILDRED MARIE MARLIN June 21, 1926 - February 8, 2011 Mildred Marie Marlin (nee Bartleman) passed away peacefully on February 8, 2011, surrounded by the love of her family. Mildred was predeceased by her parents, Marie and Stewart, siblings Morris, Roy, Max, Enid and Marjorie, and son Gary (October 2010). She is survived by husband Bruce, and daughters Donna and Carol (John), grandchildren Sheila, Mark, Rhonda, Sheri, Sarah, Matthew and five great-grandchildren Damon, Cameryn, Mason, Malori and Noah. Mildred was born in Regina, SK. From there she moved to the family farm near Candiac, SK, then to Wolseley, SK. It was there, in Grade 9, where she met the love of her life Bruce. They dated throughout school and continued to correspond, when Mildred attended the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, where she received her Bachelor of Arts. Mildred and Bruce married on December 27, 1947 and enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. During their marriage they lived in several different communities during Bruce's career with the C.P.R. In the midst of raising three children, she embarked on her career as a respected and gifted educator. She returned to school to obtain her Education degree and started teaching at Reston Collegiate Institute in 1966. After teaching in Reston, Mildred and Bruce moved to Regina, SK where she finished her teaching career at Campbell Collegiate in 1986. Mildred was an outstanding English teacher receiving teaching accolades from staff and students. Mildred retired in 1986 and enjoyed many years of retirement with Bruce, wintering in Mesa, AZ and spending summers in Canada. In retirement, Mildred developed her considerable artistic talents. She painted porcelain dolls, sewing many of their period garments, painted china plates as well as many craft items indigenous to the Mesa area. Her family feels fortunate to have so many wonderful works of art that she created. Mildred was also an accomplished pianist and played the piano and organ both at home and in church. She loved to accompany Bruce as he practised singing. She was an active member in the church and was a choir member when she lived in Reston, MB. She was a member of Daughters of the Nile and Order of the Eastern Star. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
