Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHIRAKO JEANETTE MORISHITA (nee TAMOTO) Hirako Jeanette Morishita (née Tamoto) passed away peacefully on January 31, 2011 at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her husband Hiroshi, daughter Georgia Osaka, grandsons Robert Osaka and Stephen Hayward, and siblings Saichi (Miyoko), Yutaka (Lily), Sakae Dryden (Bob), and Kazuko Onouye (Shige). She is survived by her son Steve (Mary), daughter Susanne Hirose (Tim), son-in-law Stan Osaka, grandchildren Corey Knott (David), Kimberly and Scott, granddaughter-in-law Sakura Iwagami, great-grandsons Matthew and James Knott, siblings Hisako Miyai, Aki (Chiyoko) and Shizue Nishi (Toshio), and many close nieces and nephews. Hirako was born and raised in Steveston, BC and moved to Manitoba in 1942 as a result of the Japanese Canadian internment. She and her husband raised their family in Winnipeg and finally returned back to Steveston in 1979. She was a seamstress by trade and enjoyed knitting, crochet, reading, and watching baseball (the Montreal Expos being her favourite team). The family wishes to thank Dr. Cheryl Nagle and the staff at the Richmond Hospital/Minoru Residence for their care and compassion. At Hirako's request, no service will be held. Flowers and koden gratefully declined.
