PATRICIA HUGHES Patricia Hughes passed away peacefully on February 9, 2010, at Grace Hospice after a lengthy illness. Pat was predeceased by her husband Art, and her parents Pearl and Ted Shaw and Ronald Thomas. She will be remembered with love by her family including: siblings Susan and David; children and grandchildren Kent, Kristin and Oliver; Jeff, Irene, Kaethe, Nik, and Karl; David, Kleo, Marina, and Andreas; Art's parents Reg and Rena Hughes; and extended family. She was a very special aunt to Jaimie. Pat was born and lived most of her life in Winnipeg. She worked as a nurse for many years and spent the last years before retirement with the City of Winnipeg. After retiring she spent many hours volunteering for Cancer Care. She loved spending time at Lac Lu and later at Sandy Hook. She enjoyed entertaining and was a wonderful cook. Most of all she loved her family and friends. She was particularly proud of being a grandparent and she cherished her close friendships. Pat was courageous, loving and funny and she will be greatly missed. Thank you to all the dedicated health care team members who helped Pat fight her long battle and also to those who helped her when she couldn't fight any longer. Special thanks to the members and facilitators of her support group who have meant so much to her. A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Private interment will take place at a later date.
