LEONARD PETER WALTER SEVICK September 20, 1949 - February 6, 2011 It is with the greatest sadness that Linda, Kim and Todd announce the passing of their husband and father Len on Sunday, February 6, 2011, at Grace Hospital at the age of 61 years. Len attacked the cancer that invaded his body with the same characteristics that he approached life - optimism, tenacity, courage and good humour. His positive outlook took him a long way. Len spent his life working in the newspaper industry in advertising. He loved his profession and missed the people he worked with across the country, the clients and people he met. He always said if he could go back to work tomorrow he would and be very happy doing so. He made so many friends over the years through business: Boyd, Robbie, Larry and so many more. He loved to get on his Harley and ride with his buddies Brian, Blair and Sig. The destination didn't matter, it was spending time together. His other passion was model railroading, the last year being able to get together with John and talk trains and work on the layout. We will forever miss seeing him at the cottage in Saskatchewan spending time there with friends and family, including his mother-in-law Cathy, Uncle Sid, Aunt Marion and friends Don and Wendy, Karen and Ian, George and Blake. You were all dear to him. The greatest day for Len was spending time with his children, Todd and wife Gina, and Kim and her husband Tim (Kraemer). He was so proud of them all. His little man Lukas (four) who loved to do jobs with him and got to go for a ride on the Harley last summer. Rhys (two) who would cuddle up to talk Thomas the Train with Grandpa and his special little girl Allison (Chicken Thursday, nine months) who came over every Thursday to spend the afternoon and have dinner with him. Finally, left to cherish the memories is his wife and best friend Linda with whom he spent the last 40 years. We want to thank all the Doctors who worked with and for Len. Without their help we would not have come this far. Dr. Shojania, St. Boniface Hospital who helped him through the first year, Dr. M. Rubinger, CancerCare Manitoba, who, we felt, fought for Len to have various treatments when others would have stopped and Dr. A. Olujohungbe and Dr. V. Dao who looked after Len over the past few months. We also want to thank all of the nurses at CancerCare, you are all wonderful ladies. The family will not be having a formal service and would ask anyone who wishes to remember Len to donate to GD6, CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 039, where Len spent three different times and was always so pleased with the love, care and attention given to the patients. " Please do not mourn my passing for I have lived life on my terms and there is no greater freedom than doing so. Remember the good times and cherish the moments shared together as I do. I will wait to see all of you again, but please don't be in a rush to come see me. Live long and happy lives for then we will have much to talk about."
