DR. VLADIMIR (VLAD) FIALA

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDR. VLADIMIR (VLAD) FIALA Peacefully at the Juravinski Hospital, on February 11, 2011, at the age of 80. Predeceased by son David Rory Fiala, October 8, 2002. Survived by beloved wife Dr. Judith Carol Moran; daughters, Karen Marie Cziraki (Dave) of Hamilton, Kelly Raye Heaney (Matt) of Toronto; and sons, Richard Ryan Fiala (Kelly) of Niagara Falls, Martin Fiala (Jane) and family of Guelph, Daniel Brodan (Zorka) and family of Czech Republic. Also survived by stepdaughter Susan DeBoer and family of Guelph. Vlad was born and raised in Czechoslovakia, and lived there until 1968. He became a physician in Prague in 1955, and worked as a pediatric surgeon before immigrating. In Canada, he worked as an emergency physician, initially in Winnipeg, and then at Chedoke-McMaster Hospital from 1976 to 1996. Friends may call at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue East, on Tuesday, February 15th at 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. We would like to thank all the wonderful staff at both the Juravinski (Henderson) and the Hamilton General Emergency departments. Thanks to all of the staff on the stroke unit of 7 south of H.G.H., and ward 3C of J.H. A special thanks to the emergency physicians at both sites for all their kindness and concern for one of their former colleagues. Thank you also to The Meadows Nursing Home for their wonderful care over the past eight weeks.
