Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARRIET JOHNER August 22, 1954 - February 11, 2011 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Harriet Johner on February 11, 2011. She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 35 years, Richard; son Rory (Christaline); mother Joan East; sisters Diane Chilton, Maryanne East; brothers, Steve Chilton (Joanne) of Calgary, Gordon East (Helen) of Saskatoon; sister-in-law Anne Johner; brother-in-law Michael Johner; her cousins in Gimli and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Gerald; brothers David, Gerry, and nephew Daniel. Harriet was born in Winnipeg but raised in Hornepayne, ON until her teen years when the family moved to Winnipeg where she attended Grant Park High School. From high school she applied her skills in the retail business starting at Super Store, Deli Department working her way up to Assistant Supervisor for the Deli departments for all stores in Western Canada. Leaving there she took her skills and opened a restaurant with her two sisters in Transcona called Three Sisters Cafe . Upon the arrival of our son Rory she settled at home opening a day care in the Crescentwood area for several years. Getting restless she went back out to the work force to work at Altos, Canad Inn, Pembina Highway for ten years. At the time of her diagnosis of Brain Cancer she was the property manager for the Renaissance condo in St. Norbert where she loved working for the condo owners who made her feel part of their family environment sharing their life experiences and many stories. She enjoyed her time travelling to different spots like Key West, Puerto Vallarta, but her favourite was Las Vegas where she was a yearly visitor. The family wish to thank her doctors: Neurosurgeon Dr. Krcek, Health Sciences Centre; Radiologist Oncologist Dr. G. Schroeder from CancerCare, nursing staff on 6th floor Rehab for all their support and care. A special thank you to her life long friend Ina (Jim) Varga for her special meals and around the clock care she gave, along with her sisters Diane, Maryanne and sister-in-law Ann, as well as our other close friends who gave their love and support through her illness. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at Chapel Lawn. Until we meet again. Love your hubby.
